AREA CODE 775

Area code 775 was split from the original Nevada area code of 702 in 1998. The 775 area code serves the entire state of Nevada, aside from the Las Vegas metropolitan region. Historically Nevada Bell has been the largest telephone provider for 775 along with numerous independent companies.

Tandem and host office for the various remotes served by Verizon in this western Nevada region south of Reno. Was once a Class 4 "Toll Center" as part of the Direct Distance Dialing hierarchy with direct trunk groups to the Reno Class 3 "Primary Center."

VIRGINIA CITY


Original Bell Telephone Company of Nevada --> Nevada Bell --> SBC and now AT&T remote switch hosted from the Carson City office. Serves the famous historic mining town of Virginia City, Nevada. 
Was one of the last offices in the nation to have manual switchboard services. Dial was finally installed in 1975!
