RAPID CITY
|
Rapid City is the main tandem office for the western part of South Dakota. Originally a Northwestern Bell office, it was taken over by US West, and then Qwest. The tandem was a Primary office with a direct connection to the Omaha Sectional Office. This office was of importance during the cold war, as it was the connection to neighboring Ellsworth AFB, a strategic command base and was connected to Rapid City via cable and microwave. Microwave also connected to Caputa. |
