SAN MIGUEL

Original CONTEL of California office, became GTE now Verizon.  The building in the front was constructed for the San Miguel Interurban Telephone Company's first dial office which was a Stromberg Carlson X-Y switch. The larger building located behind it was constructed by Contel to house a NEC electronic (analog) switch. It now houses a DMS100.

SANTA BARBARA MAIN
Original office built in the 1910's to serve the affluent seaside community of Santa Barbara.  Was classified as a Class 4 "Toll office" as part of the Direct Distance Dialing hierarchy and had direct trunk groups to the Sherman Oaks Class 3 Primary Center.  The office continues to serve as a Tandem Office for the various Verizon offices in the Santa Barbara-San Luis Obispo region, yet due to its independent "telephone" status, an AT&T Toll office is located next-door.

SANTA BARBARA "LOS POSITAS"

ABSTRACT "TELEPHONE" DESIGN ON THE UPPER TRIM??

 

 

Built in the early 1970's to relieve Santa Barbara "Main" and Goleta.

SOLVANG

 

Serves the Santa Yenz Valley and the quaint Danish town of Solvang.  Built in the late 1960s to replace the original Santa Ynez office.
