VIRGINIA TELEPHONE CENTRAL OFFICE'S

The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia (C&PTC) was the original Bell telephone franchise in the state.  During the court required AT&T divestiture in 1984, numerous east coast bell operating companies formed Bell Atlantic.  Bell Atlantic continued operation until 2000 when it was merged with GTE to form Verizon Corporation.  All ex-Bell Atlantic offices are now operated by Verizon-Virgina.
